Tony,

Great story you posted above. I got back into slot cars a few years ago with my kid daughters after dusting off my old Eldon race set from the 60s. My daughters and I liked slot cars so much we started selling them on ebay and then on our own website: slotcardeals.com We're flattered that you posted the picture of our home race set above and our two favorite cars. I took that photo about 4 years ago of our Scalextric Lolas. Hope you are still enjoying slot car racing. -Andy

Thanks. Just a reminder from the <a href="http://rummage.wordpress.com/rules-of-the-road/" rel="nofollow">"Rules of the Road"</a> for this site:

8. Money. This website is a noncommercial enterprise. A friendly recommendation about a product or service is okay, but this is not the place for a sales pitch. Try the blog two doors down.

I agree that our standards are deteriorating: Our daughters are bright, do very well in school, are voracious readers, and good writers, but have not had enough instruction in grammar in public school, which does them a real disservice. I also understand that language changes over time, but I think there is also a significant difference between the slow evolution of language and pure carelessness and ignorance.

The standard of English - punctuation, spelling and grammar - is deteriorating year by year, and something needs to be done to reverse that trend.

<del datetime="00">This is part of the reason for my recently starting up a new business: Simply Words Editing Services (www.simplywords.co.uk ).</del>

It's a sad day indeed. I'm reminded of something George said;

"If it's true that our species is alone in the universe, then I'd have to say that the universe aimed rather low and settled for very little."

And our species is further diminished today, by the loss of the "Great One."

George was both a blessing and a curse, to those who knew and loved him. To the rest of us, he was a sage, a man filled with insight, and the backbone to "stick it to the man" every chance he got.

I couldn't think of anything else, today. It's like a cold, dark cloud entered my study, and lingered. You can read my thoughts here;

I always thought that if Keith Richards could hang with us, old George would be around to welcome Jesus back...

71 was much too young. We'll miss him.

Thanks for stopping by, and for the links to the renovation photos. Maybe the rebuild would be a good opportunity for "Pipedreams" to visit for those of us who might not be returning to Pittsburgh anytime soon... Maybe an e-mail to Michael Barone would be in order.

Hey,

I just found your site. Too bad you visited St Pauls when you did. The organ was in very bad shape and is now undergoing a total rebuild. Here is the site for pics of the progress.

Come back in December for the reinstallation.
