Why does this keep happening?

Last week, or the week before – it’s easy to lose track, it was the city council meeting in Kirwood, Missouri.  Today it was Northern Illinois University.  Just the other day it was a shopping mall in Omaha, or Virginia Tech, or Columbine, etc., etc.

Yes, it’s a rhetorical question.

  1. Not surprisingly, others are asking the same question, though I would broaden the scope to include shootings in public places where people carry out the normal activities of life.

It’s likely that a motive for this latest episode will surface over the coming hours or days, just as they have in others. But knowing the motive doesn’t answer the question why people feel that gunning down others who may have absolutely no connection to the event(s) behind their motive is an option.
